Our Purpose

To ensure the understanding of proper documentation and coding fundamentals. For providers, this entails accurate and appropriate documentation guidance. This includes diagnosis specificity for true reimbursement for services performed. For persons, this entails wanting to obtain your CPC or furthering your skillset. We simplify coding instruction for ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS in a way that allows for clarification of varied learning styles.

CORLISS McQUEEN

My name is Corliss McQueen and I am a coding Supervisor at a Metro Detroit Health System, where I have been employed for almost 20 years. I acquired employment right after graduating from the RHIT program at Henry Ford College. Two years into my role as a coder, I was encouraged to apply for a Team Lead position and that is when my keenness for coding education began.

I have my own style of teaching and training individuals to become coders. Because of this passion I obtained my CPC, CEMC and CPC-I and these credentials allowed me to have varied perspectives when training.

I believe that coding is an overlooked occupation that has the ability to change lives. My goal is to offer another avenue for people to become gainfully employed as everybody is not fit or even has the desire to attend a two- or four-year institution. I will always do my absolute best at Coding instruction as this helps to guarantee student success.

At present, I help oversee new employee training and assist with provider education. Helping providers to understand how to document appropriately is essential and ensures accurate coding for maximum reimbursement.

SHARON TRINIDAD

My name is Sharon Trinidad and I've worked at a couple different Trauma 1 Hospitals for over 25 years. I switched positions to expand my knowledge and expertise for both inpatient and outpatient coding, as well as educating coders, billers and physicians.

I have trained and educated over 1000 individuals,  both in the field and those wanting to be in the field. When a few coworkers told me that my style of teaching was unique in the way I break things down, this sparked my passion to be more than a coder. I became a Supervisor, then an Auditor and a Registered Nurse. I currently hold the following credentials and license, CPC, CPMA and RN.

I inspire everyone, no matter your current situation, if you just beleive in yourself you will achieve. I will always do my best with educating and providing resources to help you succeed. If you do the work, you have the ability to create your own opportunities.

Currently, I do new provider training as well as educate, train and audit current providers and coders. I make sure coders are following guidelines and leveling appropriately based on documentation. I review providers documentation and address areas for reimbursement opportunities, documentation discrepancies,  and diagnosis specificity.
